Doom (1993) is a first-person shooter video game developed and published by id Software and released on December 10, 1993. Players assume the role of a space marine fighting his way through hordes of invading demons from Hell. The game uses both 2D and 3D graphics with the environments being in 3D and enemies being in 2D. Though there is semblance of a plot the game focuses more on the game-play rather than a cohesive story.

Doom is a first-person shooter, therefore the game-play is in a first-person perspective and guns will be the main weapons used, though there are a few melee weapons. As you progress you will find stronger weapons to help you against enemies. There are even hidden rooms that have powerful weapons in them, awarding the player for exploring the areas. The controls of doom are tight and responsive making the gun play feel fluid and nice to control. When aiming your weapons, you are only able to aim left and right, but as long as you are facing towards and enemy it will hit them even if they are high up. Speaking of enemies, you will be fighting of a multitude of different demons and undead. The type of enemies varies from melee enemies to projectile enemies, some can float, and some move faster than others.

The design of Doom is a unique concept, a concept that is executed quite well. The game combines both space with hell, a combination that makes the game have a unique style. Not only that but the design of the enemies and environments are well done and distinct. Then there is the music which is nothing but fantastic, as soon as you start the level the music starts and pumps you up.
